Sarah Reiter signs on with Montana State | Track & field

Lindbergh senior Sarah Reiter signed a National Letter of Intent to compete for the Montana State track and field team Wednesday.

2A girls Renton (12-4 overall, 11-0 Seamount): The Indians have clinched the league’s top 2A seed. Will play: Olympic No. 1 seed Feb. 10 at 6 p.m. Right now, Kingston is leading the way at 11-2 in league play. Port Angeles is within striking distance at 12-3. The Indians lost to Port Angeles 44-42 Jan. 4. Kingston went 2-0 against Port Angeles in the regular season.

Lindbergh grad Zack Nielsen makes Big Sky championships | Track & field

Eastern Washington thrower Zack Nielsen qualified for the Big Sky Conference Champoinship in Arizona Feb. 24-25. Nielsen graduated from Lindbergh in 2009, where he made the All-State game as a football player. He made state as a junior in the discus.

Seamount, KingCo 3A/2A situations for next enrollment cycle

All four Renton high schools will remain in their current classifications for the 2012-2014 cycle. Hazen has an enrollment of 1,179 (1,111 last cycle) and is the area's only natural 3A school. Liberty's enrollment is 870 (934), making it the smallest Renton school. But the Patriots are opting up to 3A as they did during the last cycle.

Steve Sholdra can’t stop. Whether it’s another board to join, another scholarship to earn, or another few seconds to shave off his swim times, Sholdra isn’t afraid to take on a new challenge. “All the pressure, all the opportunities, it’s a really strong part of my childhood,” Sholdra said. “Having to balance out and schedule my time so closely will really help in college.”

Renton, Liberty girls keep share of league leads | Basketball

Lindbergh's Jimmy Keum had a huge second half and brought the Eagles back for a 67-59 win against Highline Wednesday. Lindbergh (8-7 overall, 5-4 Seamount) trailed 35-13 at the half, but Keum scored 31 of his 35 points in the second half. Casey Huppe and Tyrell Shavers each scored nine for Lindbergh.

Liberty's Cassidy Nangle 3A MVP, four more make all-state teams | Girls soccer

Washington soccer coaches selected Liberty senior Cassidy Nangle as the 3A soccer MVP. Nangle also made the all-state first team as announced Monday.

Renton leading Seamount | Girls basketball

Renton girls basketball coach Tim White saw this coming. He knew this team would have just the right mix to be something special. So far, he’s been right. The Indians are off to a perfect 8-0 start in the Seamount and stand at 9-4 overall, even with a challenging non-league schedule.
