Fairwinds-Brighton Court resident Richard Vawter gets a debriefing on the rules of the Electric Cart Race by Fairwinds-Redmond PrimeFit instructor Rachel Lu. The course included a station where racers had to place three flags in vases on their way to the finish line. Nearly 200 seniors representing six different Fairwinds Retirement Communities in the greater Seattle area participated in this year's Games, which included Wii Bowling, Beanbag Baseball, Balloon Volleyball, relay races and more.

School's out | End of School Bash caps a job well done

Redmond teens celebrated an academic year well done at last Friday's End of School Bash at the lawn of Redmond City Hall. The band, Ambulance was one of the many performers at the event, which included live entertainment, games and food from local venders. Clubs from Redmond High School (RHS) and Redmond Junior High (RJH) ran traditional carnival games such as "ring toss," "feed the animal," "pin the tail on the donkey," "balloon pop" and "penny toss" as well as ping-pong and Twister. Musicians from RHS and RJH also performed, including the band Kung Fu Grip, which features members of Universal Soul, the winner of this year's Rockathon.

Class of 2009: RHS graduates open a new chapter in life

Redmond High School (RHS) held its Class of 2009 commencement ceremony at Key Arena on Thursday, June 11. Four hundred forty graduates received their diplomas. Prior to the ceremony, the RHS band, directed by Andy Robertson, performed "The Olympics: A Centennial Celebration." The processional was an arrangement of "Pomp and Circumstance" and the recessional was John Williams' "Coronation March." During the ceremony, the RHS choir, under the direction of Arianna Guthrie, performed "Simple Gifts" arranged by Mark Hayes.
