Bail set at $25,000 for Marysville suspect in home invasion robbery

TULALIP — A 25-year-old Marysville man was booked into Snohomish County Jail Sept. 1 on suspicion of first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary and second-degree assault in connection with a home invasion robbery that happened the morning of Aug. 23 in the 8400 block of 27th Ave. NE on the Tulalip reservation.

Coca-Cola plant in Marysville to close Sept. 17

MARYSVILLE — In the midst of negotiations Sept. 1 and 2 between Coca-Cola and 500 of its western Washington employees, including those at the company's Marysville plant, the company confirmed that its Marysville plant will be closing Sept. 17.

Crews work to complete Marysville Getchell High School before the Sept. 7 opening

As students arrived for orientation Aug. 24, construction crews continued to prepare Marysville Getchell High School for its first day of school Sept. 7. According to Marysville School District Capital Facilities Director John Bingham, the vast majority of the work is already done, and the biggest task left is simply relocation.

Marysville Fire District honors 303 combined years of member service

MARYSVILLE — The Marysville Fire District recognized the years of service of currently serving members and retirees alike during an Aug. 18 awards ceremony. The Marysville Fire District Board of Directors joined the fire district members' peers and family members in honoring them for completing five, 10, 20 and 25 years of service. Four district members who retired this year were also praised for their decades of service.

Temporary Walmart hiring center opens in Smokey Point

SMOKEY POINT — Walmart has opened a temporary hiring center near its new store location to fill approximately 350 positions. The center, located at 3704 172nd Street NE, began accepting applications on Monday, Aug. 20, and will continue to do so from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Coke employees agree to return to work

SEATTLE — The 500 western Washington Coca-Cola employees who went on strike at 5 p.m., Aug 23, which includes 37 workers in Marysville, have agreed to return to work unconditionally, as part of "a goodwill gesture that demonstrates their willingness to bargain a fair and equitable contract in good faith," according to a statement issued by Teamsters Local 117.

Overnight closures scheduled on SR 529 in Marysville

Marysville man among those injured in I-5 collision

EVERETT — A Marysville man was among two individuals injured in a four-car collision on Interstate 5 Saturday, Aug. 28. The 21-year-old man was driving northbound at approximately 3 p.m. when his Chevrolet Trailblazer collided with a second Trailblazer being driven by a 41-year-old Lake Stevens woman. The 21-year-old man was driving northbound at approximately 3 p.m. near milepost 193 when his Chevrolet Trailblazer collided with a second Trailblazer being driven by a 41-year-old Lake Stevens woman. The woman's vehicle struck a guardrail on the right shoulder of I-5. The man's SUV then collided with a third vehicle, which struck a fourth vehicle.

Horse trailer flips in I-5 crash, no injuries reported

Washington State Patrol troopers responded Aug. 27 at approximately 11:20 a.m. to a two-vehicle collision in the northbound lanes of I-5 at Mile Post 204 near Marysville. One of the vehicles was pulling a horse trailer with one horse inside.
