Gustav “Gus” Johnson — born Jan. 29, 2012 | Birth

Jennifer and Bryan Johnson welcomed Gustav “Gus” Johnson Jan. 29, 2:30 p.m., weighing 7-pounds, 5.4-ounces and measuring 18.9-inches. He wasn’t scheduled until this Friday, but made his mind up to arrive early. Jenn was flown to the hospital from Friday Harbor and Bryan followed by ferry for the caesarean section, which started around 2 p.m. Family members said Gus looks very intelligent already and is joined by his sister, Hazel.

Rory Curtiss VanHyning, born May 3, 1977, was in this day of technology and indifference, a Renaissance man. He believed in old-fashioned values such as friendship, loyalty, integrity and compassion. Mullis Center’s upcoming events

On Sunday, Feb. 5, 9 a.m. – noon, the Mullis Center hosts an “All you can eat pancakes.” This event — every first Sunday of every month — includes eggs, bacon and juice for $6 or $3 for kids under 12.

Hoffman nets top prize in Bluewater fishing competition
