Bring the signs down

Now that the primary election is over and the top-two winners have been chosen for November, the sad vestiges of the campaigns linger on.

Back in the day

I appreciate Ms. Barbara Raabe remembering me from my time as mayor back in the 1990s ("Same old story," The Reporter, Aug. 27), but my recollection differs somewhat from hers. Maybe because my viewpoint is/was different.

The Sammamish Planning Commission asked the staff for a number of things to fix the ordinance, but the staff couldn’t find the time to comply with the requests due to workload and a lack of resources

Port Blakely welcomes and encourages open and honest discussion about the future of the Issaquah Highlands community. But we are concerned as the conversation appears to have taken a misguided turn.

Now we have cell tower standards which codify corporate insensitivity to the impact they have on neighborhoods, stamped with the approval of our elected representatives.

A history lesson on the Issaquah Highlands

Judd Kirk was the representative for Port Blakely then, so it does not surprise me now that he is still pushing for the most density in this former bucolic area.

Not a ruined landscape

Today I went for a jog on Tiger Mountain near Issaquah. I have thoroughly enjoyed its footpaths this summer, together with many others: families, daycare children, high school students, handicapped persons, seniors and tourists.

Highlanders raise up

Today I am full of pride and disappointment.
