Battle lines drawn over Summit Place between YarrowBay and Maple Valley

A dispute over the annexation and development of Summit Place, better known as the donut hole, has evolved into a tough-talking battle between the developer and the city of Maple Valley. Sharply-worded letters were sent to the King County Council from YarrowBay Managing Partner Brian Ross and Maple Valley Mayor Laure Iddings concerning the annexation of the property.

Covington continues road work on Kent Kangley

Slowly but surely the city of Covington is working on Southeast 272nd Street as it runs through downtown to the Maple Valley border. Later this summer the next phase of work on state Route 516 will be put out to bid, according to Covington’s Public Works Director Glenn Akramoff, with $2 million of the price tag coming from money allocated by the state Legislature along with a transportation improvement grant

A Potelco Inc. employee lost control of a backhoe today while backing down the Green River trail in the 20000 block of 58th Avenue S.E. and both the backhoe and the driver went down the steep embankment into the river. A call to 911 was placed at about 2 p.m.

Four Covington houses damaged by fireworks

At 6 p.m. Saturday four homes in the 25400 block of 163 Ave. SE were damaged when fireworks being discharged in the street ignited juniper bushes of a nearby house.
